Shared Experience.

  • Police patches

    Law Enforcement

Police have always had a challenging job; cops today have even more stressors. Exposed to trauma and toxic stress at extreme levels. Our Staff has nearly 100 years of combined Law Enforcement experience. In addition, our Peers—and Peer Network—have the firsthand experience in the field, on the job. Police who are well, will police well.

  • Firehouse

    Fire

Firefighters’ jobs are filled with trauma and toxic stress. Long hours on the job make it difficult to turn these roles “off” when at home. Maladaptive coping methods are frequently part of the subculture.

  • jail/prison

    Corrections

Corrections is often the “forgotten” members of public safety. Some consider the trauma and toxic stress of Corrections to be the most extreme. Double shifts are frequent and mandatory, limiting time to their personal lives and families.

  • Emergency Dispatcher

    Dispatchers/911 Operators

Dispatchers/911 Operators are sometimes referred to as the FIRST First Responders. They are many times the first point of contact with someone who is enduring the worst day of their life. It is a consensus among these First Responders, that they are left feeling helpless and powerless at the end of a shift. Burnout, depression, and anxiety are plaguing our 911 Centers nationwide every day.

  • Ambulance/Paramedics/EMTs

    Paramedics/EMT

Paramedics/EMTs often work very long hours without many of the employment benefits that other careers in Public Safety have. Exposure to life-or-death trauma on a daily basis brings with it trauma, depression, anxiety, and sometimes misapplied guilt. Along with organizational stress, shift work, overtime, unstable working conditions, and frequent changes in protocols and skills proficiency can make this demanding career overwhelming at times.

“You have power over your mind — not outside events.

Realize this, and you will find strength.”
